MapleStory: Fight for Freedom! Pt4 (Not based on the game)
Tragedy strikes
Back…with the 4th part to the story! It’s been developed quite slowly, as I hardly had any time to write it, but I will try to make the story interesting. Also, you might find more song lyrics in here then the other parts cause’ I was fooling around with music….ahehe…
Also….swearing is in the story right now and WILL not be censored…
Onward with the story!

Kaizer’s P.O.V

-4 in the morning-

Once again, I’m stuck bunking with my good ol’ friend, Talax, in the same room. Meh, don’t worry. I’m not sleeping with him. Not that I’d want to, anyway…I was facing the dresser mirror, thinking about all that had happened ranging from the day I came until last night…..So much had changed since then. The ‘Freedom Fighters’ seemed more alert and independent now…Last time, it would always be Raddo ordering around people, but now, they seem to think about the mission first before accepting it.

I wonder, however, is this change a good one? I mean, if they start thinking clearly, their thoughts might somehow twist and they’ll join the ‘Master’. Meh…I’m thinking to deeply into this…Luckily, I’ve got something that can help me past my time….My Ipod! Then again, I thought wrong when I flipped through the songs. ‘Boring….boring…hey-no, still boring….ugh…’ I finally placed it on the dresser with disgust. “Man….I really need to start updating…”

I sighed in defeat. I took out a piece of paper and a pencil and started writing. Pretty soon, I was done and I went over what I had written. ‘Hey….I have read this before…’ Suddenly, a tune came into my mind and I widened my eyes slowly. “No……way….”

It was the song I had made when I met my first girlfriend! ‘How did it get back into my mind!?’ Suddenly, it struck me: Today would have been our 10th anniversary….if she hadn’t died, that is….Tears strung my eyes. ‘Shit…. Reina….’ Wiping the tears forming in my eyes, I took out my guitar (Yes, I did have a guitar when I came…Don’t ask why, anyway…) and headed towards the rooftops, a place where I knew I could play and sing in silence.

-The rooftops-

I looked up at the sky as I stepped out. I had been so busy ‘fighting’ crime that I had forgotten all about today…I sat down by the side, so that no one could see me immediately if they were to come out. I strummed a few notes, and thankfully, the guitar was still in tune. ‘Ok…Reina, wherever you are….this is for you…my love.’

“Ne, Kaizer….I didn’t know you knew how to play the guitar…” I turned around abruptly, to see Rei standing there. “Rei? What are you doing out here so early?” Rei shrugged. “Dunno….Just couldn’t sleep….Ne, Kaizer…..did you write that song?” I smiled sadly. “Yeah….for my girlfriend.” Rei looked quizzically at me. “B-but…I…..” Suddenly, his puzzled look turned enraged. “You’re cheating on your girlfriend! Why I ought to…” He took a few steps towards me, his wand ready to issue a strike.

I chuckled lightly, stood up and pulled him towards me. “Silly…she’s gone…” Rei’s look softened and looked up at me, surprised. “Gone….as in…dead?” I nodded, trying hard not to cry in front of him. “Oh….I’m sorry…” I shook my head, patting his head in the process. “Don’t be….Rightfully, by now; I should have been over it…” I sighed deeply. “Maybe it’s because you remind me of her….”

“Oh? In what way?” I looked at him, amused. “You sure are one curious little kitty, aren’t you?” Rei pouted. “Tell me!” I ruffled his hair affectionately. “In time….” I pushed him away gently. “Get some rest while you still can. We have a big mission to do….” With that, I left him standing there with his troubled look. Man, am I messing up this relationship…

Back in my room, I placed my guitar at one side and took up my seat at the dresser. Suddenly, Talax, who was still in my bed, turned over and looked at me, a smirk fully in place. “You remembered what today was, didn’t you?” I looked at him, surprised. “H-how? How do you know about today?” Talax scowled. “Don’t forget…Reina was my friend too….Well? What happened?” I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. “This is all messed up….I’m supposed to be in love with Rei…but is it only because he resembles Reina?” Talax got out of bed immediately. “Look, you should have gotten over it by now! You cannot dwell on the past! She’s been gone for 10 years….Why can’t you get it!?”

I stood up abruptly, making Talax take a step back cautiously. “Can’t get it!!?? Look, to you, she was a friend, but she was…my life! When she died, I was devastated! My life was gone! My light in the darkness faded away! You don’t know how upsetting it was to me!” I stepped towards him, whereas he stepped backward, obviously being cautious. “I’m sick and tired of living in the past! But every time I try to forget, she reappears in my mind again! You don’t know how agonizing this is to me, so fuck off!”

Talax raised his two hands in defense. “Ok, ok! You don’t need to take it all out on me! Save some of that anger for the punk who killed her!” I growled angrily, all anger on Talax dissipating. “Master’…..” I immediately grabbed Talax’s wrist and dragged him towards the meeting room. “C’mon, I’m not going to wait any longer….”

At the meeting room, I hastily scribbled down a note as Talax prepared to open the gateway to the Master’s fortress. Just as we were about to leave, a voice stopped us. “K-kaizer?? Talax?? What are you guys doing?” We turned around to see Rei, littleHiff, Slash and b4nSinzz step into the meeting room. “Why are you guys going to the Master’s headquarters without alerting Slasher?” I growled. “Look, this is adults’ business. Stay out of it.” Slash suddenly took his sword out of its hilt. “You’re going back, aren’t you?”

Rei looked at me, frightened and with tears forming in his eyes. “You’re l-leaving….to go back to the ‘Master’?” I walked towards him. “Rei…” Suddenly, he burst into tears. The others backed away as I approached him, but their hands rested on their weapons. “Rei…listen…” I tried to hug him, but the next thing I knew, Rei had raised his hand and slapped me. My hand immediately went up to my reddening cheek as I stared disbelievingly at him. “I…I hate you!” He turned and ran out of the door; leaving me and the others in the room…..This all seems too familiar to me….

{Flashback}

“I hate you!”

“Wait…Reina!”

“…*pant*…Reina!”

“Hehe…looks like you’re in time to see your sweetheart die, isn’t that right, Kaizer?”

“Boris! Get away from Reina, you bastard!”

“Heh…”

“God no-REINA!”

“Life will never be fair, Kaizer…In time we’ll meet again, and you will be by my side at that time…”

{End Flashback}

“Oh god….Rei!” I dashed out of the room to look for him. Running along the corridor, I managed to catch a glimpse of him as he ran towards the exit of the ‘Freedom Fighters’ headquarters. “Rei!” I tried to teleport as I ran, but he was quicker then me. Soon, he was out of my sight and fearing the worst, I tried to go faster….

When I got outside of the ‘Freedom Fighters’ headquarters, something I saw made me stop dead in my tracks. “B-b….Boris!?” The purple-haired warrior smirked. “You mean ‘Master’….All this seems too familiar…I holding your loved one, you standing there like a helpless fool…” He had his sword at Rei’s chest! “Boris! Don’t! Please….” Boris snickered. “Oh? The great hero is begging for forgiveness? Unheard of!” Suddenly, Rei dropped to his feet; life seeped out of him in a flash.

My eyes widened. “Rei….” I dropped down on my knees. “God no….Rei…” Boris snorted and sheathed his sword. “Rule number one, Kaizer, never have any emotional attachments to anyone…” He looked down at Rei’s lifeless from at his feet. “It’s a shame to kill him…Oh well, life’s not perfect….I’m sure you understand that…” Suddenly, a fire arrow was shot at him! He evaded it quickly, and grabbed his sword out of his hilt. “Who’s there!? Come out if you dare!”

littleHiff, b4nSinzz and Slash stepped out of the headquarters. Their weapons were out and ready for battle. Gathering up my act, I stood up and clenched my fists, making a resounding ‘Crack!’ Electrical energy soon began to heat up the atmosphere as my rage consumed all other emotions. Boris smirked on seeing this. “Hah! Looks like I am teaching you something….” Suddenly, he threw a flash bomb which blinded us for a few seconds. By the time we were able to see things clearly, he was gone.

Narrative P.O.V

Kaizer, Slash and b4nSinzz ran towards Rei while littleHiff went back in, presumably to call for help. Slash was furious at Kaizer for what had happened and was about to lash it out when b4nSinzz stopped him. Pointing at Kaizer, Slash then understood. Tears were dripping from the hero’s face as he cradled his lifeless love in his arms.

Talax came rushing out with littleHiff, followed by Slasher and b4ndiitz. Slash and b4Sinzz stepped away to let the adults through. littleHiff waited at the side, though you could see how worried she was.

“Kaizer….” Those who were close enough could hear Kaizer’s soft sobs. “Why…..He had a future to live….Why him….?” Talax kneeled down beside his friend and looked sadly at Rei. He used his hand to close Rei’s eyes. He tried to comfort his friend, but deep within his heart, he knew the only one who could get him through this was Kaizer’s other half: Cerveau.

Slasher managed to get Kaizer to bring Rei into the building as it was beginning to rain. As they hurried to build a proper coffin to bury Rei in with, Kaizer and Talax sat quietly beside the grand table, which Rei’s body had been placed on. Kaizer muttered a few verses and suddenly, Rei’s skin began to glow, and as suddenly it came, it vanished. “You…made sure the body wouldn’t decompose, didn’t you?”

“……” That was the only response that came from Kaizer. His head was bowed and Talax could see that he was crying. A bright light surrounded Kaizer suddenly, and when it died down, Talax gaped at what he saw.

“C-cerveau?” Cerveau nodded his head grimly. He looked over at Rei and back at Kaizer. “H-how did you separate from him?” Cerveau smiled slightly. “Only you and him can see and hear me….I’m not actually separated from him…” He hugged Kaizer from behind comfortingly and rested his head on Kaizer’s. “Gomenasai, Rei….” Suddenly, soft music could be heard throughout the grand hall. Kaizer rose his head, his face stained with tears. “This…….this is…” Cerveau smiled gently. “Sshh….listen carefully….”

Kaizer looked back at Cerveau. “Why….?” Cerveau ruffled Kaizer’s hair gently. “Think about the song lyrics…” Kaizer thought about it, and his eyes widened slightly. Then, he turned back to look at Cerveau. “Huh…” Cerveau smirked. “Heh, you’ve figured it out already? That was fast…” Kaizer frowned, but lightened up considerably. “Thanks for trying to cheer me up, anyway…”

He (Kaizer) turned back to look at Rei. “Rei….I’m sorry…” He leaned forward and kissed Rei lightly on the forehead. “Gomenasai…” Talax smiled sadly as he stroked Rei hair. “Good kid…he’ll go up, unlike us….” Cerveau came forward and kissed Rei’s hand lightly. “Goodbye, Rei….” He turned towards Kaizer, who was looking straight back at him. “So…are you over it?”

Kaizer shrugged. “Depends…” Cerveau smiled and hugged him. “See ya…” A white flash blinded Talax for a moment, but when it disappeared, there was only Kaizer in the room other then him. “Where did Cerveau go?”

“Back within me….” At that point of time, Slasher, Slash and littleHiff came walking into the grand hall, holding the coffin. “Kaizer…you feeling better now?” Kaizer nodded his head and motioned for them to put Rei into the coffin. “Erm…I have one favour to ask….” Slasher raised an eyebrow. “And the favour is…?”

“After we bury him….can we put something like a makeshift tombstone there?” Slasher nodded his head. “Yeah, sure….” Kaizer smiled. “Thanks….”

-6 in the morning-

Kaizer stood in front of the tombstone. Everyone had gone back into the building as it was raining, but he stood there, getting drenched. On the tombstone, he had carved in ‘xXxReiKonxXx 1995 – 2013 Good friend and good kid. We wish you peace in afterlife.’ Kaizer smiled sadly as he put a bouquet of flowers in front of it. “Rei…I know it’s a bit late to say the following, but….You asked in what way were you similar to Reina……Well, you….are exactly like her, looks and all….” He rested his hand on the tombstone. “Even the way you died was the same….”

“Kaizer, it’s about time you came back in. Slasher won’t stand you getting sick.” Kaizer turned to see Talax with littleHiff next to him. “In a minute…” He took one last final look at the tombstone before returning back to the building with Talax and littleHiff. ‘Don’t worry, Rei…..and Reina….I will avenge you…’

“Hey, dude! You’re soaked! I will not stand for you getting sick! Get dried now!” Kaizer winced at Slasher’s loud voice. “Chill, Slasher, it’s only a little rain…*Achoo*” Slasher wringed. “Gak! He’s getting sick!” He pushed Kaizer towards the showers quickly. “Talax, a little help???” Talax smirked. “Nah….I told you, Slasher won’t stand for you getting sick.”

-20 minutes later-

“See? Now you’re all squeaky clean!” Kaizer scowled at that remark made by Slasher and shook his head furiously, sending water-drops at everyone within a 2-metre distance. “Kaizer!!” Kaizer smirked. “That’s for pushing me into the showers!” b4ndiitz protested, “But what has it to do with us?” Kaizer snickered. “Cause’ you guys didn’t help me…..Now if you excuse me, I need to change….” He teleported back to his own room immediately, avoiding weird looks at why he was only covered with a towel.

Kaizer’s P.O.V

“Curse that Slasher for making me look like a fool….” I muttered as I hurriedly pulled a sweater over my head. Then, grabbing my sliver wrist guards, I dashed out of the room to look for Slasher and the rest.

When I found them in the meeting room, Slasher grinned and waved for me to hurry over. “Ok….now that play-time’s over, we need to get down to more troubling matters…” The projector cranked up and started displaying pictures of ‘Master’. “This ugly guy you see here is the ‘Master’, his real name still remains unknown. He has been last spotted in his fortress a few hours ago. Since time is running against us, we should strike now. There cannot and must not be any slip-ups, is that clear?”

We nodded our heads in unison, not needing him to explain further. We had gone over the procedure, so we were fully aware of the consequences if we failed. “Good. Holy will lead Team Alpha into the fortress, while littleHiff and Team Beta will watch out for any guards. Kaizer and Talax, you guys infiltrate the ‘Master’s quarters. If he’s there, you have the rights to kill him. Alright! Now that everyone’s clear with the plan, let’s go!”

Suddenly, the screen went fuzzy and became blank. A booming laughter went through the speakers. “Foolish Crusader, your plans are but a mere threat to me!” Boris’s face suddenly was displayed on the screen. I growled angrily and clenched my fists. Talax laid a hand on my shoulder. “Chill, Kaizer…” Slasher stared at the screen in disbelief. “The ‘Master’!? But how??” Boris (‘Master’) smirked. “I have eyes and ears everywhere….Now, my fellow minions! Attack!”

Suddenly, three-quarters of the ‘Freedom Fighters’ lunged at b4ndiitz and Slasher! Immediately, Talax and I sprang into action. We defended b4ndiitz and Slasher while littleHiff and her gang fought off the oncoming force. The whole place was in chaos. Every follower that was lesser then level 60 were followers of the ‘Master’! Holy healed and fought with littleHiff and the others. Talax and I were forced into a small corner with Slasher and b4ndiitz when suddenly, a whistle was heard.

Talax looked back at me. “D-did…you just hear what I heard?” I nodded my head. “It sounded like…” Suddenly, the soldiers surrounding us were drawn towards a new threat. We took that to our advantage and attacked them until they were unconscious. “Yo! How did you guys end up in this messed-up shit??” Talax and I spun back at the familiar voice. “Maxie!?” Maxie grinned. “Yeah! That’s my name!” He shot an arrow at a few oncoming attackers. The arrow split into two, those two arrows split into four, eight, sixteen until it reached the attackers. Immediately, they were paralyzed and couldn’t move.

Suddenly, a spear knocked them into a few others. The figure holding the spear came into view and stood beside Maxie. Talax’s jaw unhinged. “T-takao!?” Takao nodded his head vigorously. “Yeah…It’s me, alright!” Suddenly, Takao’s spear shot through Talax and I. We moved to the side, the spear narrowly missing our bodies. It drove through an enemy that had sneaked up behind us while we were talking. “Ok, less talk, more fighting!”

Finally, we managed to fight off the minions of the ‘Master’. As Slasher and the rest either tied up the survivors or dump the dead, we (Talax, Maxie, Takao and I) sat in a corner to figure things out. “How did you guys know that we were here?” Takao stared at Talax, surprised. “We didn’t know! We just heard the sound of a battle and decided to alert them that we were joining!” I rolled my eyes. ‘Typical of Takao to say that…’ Maxie pointed at Talax and I. “How did you guys end up here, anyway?”

I smirked and leaned against the wall. “Long story short, I escaped from the ‘Master’, joined the ‘Freedom Fighters’, saved Talax later, defeated the damn apprentice of the ‘Master’ who coincidentally was the leader of ‘Freedom Fighters’, fought the minions of the ‘Master’ who were supposedly followers of the ‘Freedom Fighters’ when you guys suddenly decided to pop by and say ‘hi’…”

Maxie nodded his head slowly, trying to get the information processed into his brain. By the look on Takao’s face, I’d say his brain decided to hang up on him a few minutes ago. Talax waved his hand at Takao’s face and he caught it, out of reflex. “Heh…at least your reflexes are still working…”

“Hey Kaizer, who are these guys?” I looked at Slasher, who had finally noticed Maxie and Takao. “They are my friends, Maxie and Takao. Maxie is a crossbow-man and Takao is a DK, or dragon-knight.” The said people beamed at Slasher, who in turn, smiled back. “Welcome to the ‘Freedom Fighters’ HQ. I have a question…” Maxie nodded his head once, a sign that meant the former could continue. “Will you guys be helping us out?”

“Yeah….especially since our friends are in it…Hey, you did say this was the ‘Freedom Fighters’ HQ, right?” Slasher nodded his head. “Well, then where’s Hiff?” Slasher, Talax and I exchanged looks. “Erm…you mean hifotrau7r?” Maxie shook his head. “No, I mean her daughter, littleHiff. I know that hifotrau7r’s dead. The son of a bitch Raddo killed her.” Slasher, slightly shaken at Maxie’s colourful vocabulary, motioned for littleHiff to come over.

“….Uncle Maxie? What are you doing here?” Maxie’s smile grew bigger upon hearing littleHiff calling him. “Hey lil’ Hiff, how have you been?” littleHiff smiled slightly. “Other then losing both parents and suffering the loss of a friend….Yeah, I’m fine….Are you going to fight with us?” Maxie ruffled her hair affectionately. “Of course…. I will help you. Your friends are my friends, remember?”

littleHiff nodded her head. “Yeah, I remember….I need to go help the others, so see you later, Uncle Maxie.” She went off to help Slash remove a mass of people. Maxie turned back to see Talax and I staring amusedly at him. “What?” I shook my head. “Nothing…other then the fact you made littleHiff smile! I can’t believe that you are the only person, other then Hifo, to make her smile!”

Maxie shrugged. “I am her uncle, what would you expect?” I sighed. “Ok…you don’t get the point…So just act like I never said that sentence.” Maxie smiled. “Ok…whatever…” Takao nudged me with the butt of his spear. “Hey….why do you look so gloomy?” Before I could reply, Talax cut in abruptly. “Guys, this is Kaizer. Not Cerveau, so what other look do you think Kaizer has?” Takao and Maxie raised an eyebrow at the same time. “Oh? Then where’s Cerveau?”

“Right here.” I looked behind Maxie and Takao. “Cerveau! Next time tell me before you zap out of my body!” Cerveau shrugged and took a seat next to me. “Hey guys, how have you been?” Maxie gaped while Takao stared at him. Finally, the latter (Takao) prodded Cerveau with the end of his spear. Cerveau caught it before it could hit him. “Watch where you put that thing! I am real, so don’t even think about trying to poke your spear through me!”

Maxie snapped out of his daze and smiled. “Heh! That’s the Cerveau I know!” He looked at me, then back at Cerveau. “Ok…if you guys are out here at the same time, how are we going to differentiate you guys?” Cerveau rolled his eyes. “Look at our eye colour, of course. Mine’s aquamarine blue, while his is amethyst purple.” Maxie pouted. “Isn’t there anything else that will be able to differentiate you from Kaizer?”

Cerveau sighed in exasperation, making me snigger. He shot me an angry glare, which I returned easily. “Maxie, that’s the only difference between us…Sorry, but I can’t help you any further….. You, wipe that smirk off your face or else…” I smirked yet again. “What would you do? I’m sure you wouldn’t hurt your own-Mmph!” Cerveau withdrew back, a smirk fully in place. “I’d do that….Happy?” A blush spread across my cheeks as I glared angrily at him. Talax was laughing his head off while Takao and Maxie were looking amusedly at me.

“Y’know, Cerveau, Reina and Rei would kill you for flirting with Kaizer….” Cerveau shrugged. “He and I are one, so what’s the difference? He’s my heroic side, while I’m the bad ass and smart self.” Talax nodded his head thoughtfully. “Good point…” He slapped Kaizer playfully on the shoulder. “Sorry, bud, but I can’t help you further…” Kaizer scowled. “Shut up….Cerveau, get back inside me before you wear out my internal magic…” Cerveau rolled his eyes. “Whatever…” He disappeared, leaving the four of us alone.

“Hey Uncle Maxie…” Maxie turned around to see littleHiff looking at him. “Yes, lil’Hiff?” littleHiff looked at Slasher then back at him. “Slasher wants you guys to rest...We might get attack by the ‘Master’ again…If he doesn’t, we will attack him tomorrow…” Maxie nodded his head. “Alright…” He hugged littleHiff tenderly. “Have a good rest, ok?” littleHiff nodded her head. “Will do, Uncle….See ya…”

“Aww….how touching….” Maxie glared at Talax. littleHiff had went off, and we were the only ones left in the grand hall. “You heard what she said….we need to get some rest…” I nodded my head and stood up. “Yeah….come to my sleeping quarters, I’ve got something to tell you guys….it’s about the ‘Master’.”

Muahahaha…..a cliff hanger! pt5 will be developed quite slowly, so you might as well expect it to be finished by the June hols!
And Cerveau doesn’t love love Kaizer, just brotherly love, so you guys can put away your criticism for thinking that I’m putting the two together
